The New Kent Extension Office, in conjunction with the area Master Gardeners, will demonstrate how to build a small greenhouse.  Total cost of materials is expected to be under $275 if someone wants to build their own.   It will be about 16' X 16'.   (Rain date January 16 at 10am.)  Contact web master for details:  jim@kavitz.com

Free Homeowner Fruit Pruning Clinic, George Reid Orchard in Colonial Williamsburg. Preregister  ex199@vt.edu or call 890-4940. We will be in a fruit tree orchard  with Apple, Peach, Fig and will demonstrate and discuss the proper  pruning practices for these trees as it relates to growing home fruit.  There will be a discussion about proper cultural care as well as  chemical applications for control of diseases and insects. This free pruning class will discuss the proper tools and techniques that are used to prune small trees and shrubs. The proper use of  pruning tools will be discussed as well as the proper pruning techniques for plants that are routinely found in Peninsula  landscapes.
