2006 Arbor Day Award Recipients Ailene Bartlett and Kari Abbott
The 21st Annual Arbor Day Ceremony and Reception was held March 10, 2006. The Williamsburg Area Council of Garden Clubs recognized Ailene Bartlett with The Arbor Day Individual Award. Her name will be added to a plaque displayed at the Williamsburg Regional Library. Kari Abbott accepted the Certificate of Appreciation awarded to the James CityCounty/Williamsburg Junior Master Gardener Program.

Tree Stewards Project Hit by Tornado
Over the past year a group of Peninsula Tree Stewards, including JCC Master Gardeners Art and Barbara Gustafson, Sue Liddell, Flora Adams, Lynn Flood, Ann DeForest, Rudy Roberts, Laura Tucker,and Phyllis Jennings as well as Jackie Lohr, Diane Short, Margaret Cotton, Wendy Mooring, and Larry Riddick from York County, Newport News and Hampton Master Gardeners have been identifying trees, shrubs and native plants while developing a wetlands nature walk at the Jamestown 4H Center. On January 11, a small tornado hit, destroying much of their work. We thought you might like to have a look. First is a picture of the nature walk last fall.
