Master Gardener Pruning Clinics
This free home visitation program provides workshops and pruning lessons for individuals and small neighborhood groups. The program promotes sustainable landscapes that improve the environment. During clinics, 2-4 Master Gardeners provide hands-on instruction in maintaining shrubs and small trees.
Typically, the clinic is held on the homeowner's property with personalized instruction from Master Gardeners guiding the homeowner. During the home visit, the master gardener team will provide the homeowner with information about pruning, general techniques and practices, and resource material. They will also instruct the homeowner on the various tools that are used for pruning as well as maintenance. Visits are 60 - 90 minutes and are scheduled for late winter and early spring. During the visit, homeowners will receive a copy of our recently updated Pruning Handbook.
Here are four instructional videos that cover pruning basics.
The updated 2026 Pruning Guide Handbook can be found here.
