Tree Call – A Request for a Tree Steward Consultation

Redbud trees, Cercis species, naturally fertilize the soil by fixing nitrogen in nodules on their roots.

TREE CALL IS OPEN FOR THE 2024 SEASON!

Tree Steward visits are a free consultation offered during spring and summer months by the James City County Williamsburg Master Gardener Association (JCCWMGA) to homeowners who are interested in getting educated advice about the health of their trees.  A small team of two or three tree stewards, at the request of the homeowner, visit the property to answer the homeowner's questions and make recommendations.

Our Master Gardener Volunteers are certified by Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) and have received additional training in the care and maintenance of trees. But our Tree Stewards don’t make assessments of risk associated with trees that may fall and damage property.  For this service, you should consult a certified arborist. There are several in the greater Williamsburg area. To help you locate one here is the link to the International Society of Arboriculture, https://www.treesaregood.org/findanarborist/findanarborist.

To schedule your Tree Call, complete the form below.  After we receive your request, we will contact you to arrange a convenient date and time for your visit.  We typically conduct home visits from 9 to noon and 1 to 4 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The visit takes about an hour.
