Popular Plant Sale Returns on May 11, 2024
Williamsburg, VA—James City County Williamsburg Master Gardener Association (JCCWMGA) invites you to our plant sale on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Williamsburg Botanical Garden (WBG) located within Freedom Park at 5537 Centerville Road. This sale runs only on Saturday, May 11, rain or shine. Admission to the WBG and parking in Freedom Park is free.
The sale offers a wide selection of annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, trees, and shrubs. Much of the plant stock has been raised by the Master Gardeners themselves. In addition to plants, visitors can shop the Green Thumb Market for gently used tools, equipment, and specialty items to perk up their garden decor.
Shoppers will enjoy connecting with fellow gardening enthusiasts and getting expert advice from the JCCW Master Gardeners Help Desk team who will be on site during the sale to answer questions.
Vickie Rockwell, JCCWMGA Board President, said, “This is a favorite plant sale for Williamsburg area gardening enthusiasts. Last year’s sale in 2023 was a huge success and from the number of inquiries about this year’s sale, we know the community is eager for the opportunity to buy plants grown by our Master Gardeners.”
Plant Sale Director Mary Sipe said, “The Master Gardeners have a long-standing relationship with the Williamsburg Botanical Garden. It’s an ideal location for our plant sale, and we are grateful for their support and help. Also, we’re indebted to the James City County Parks and Recreation for the assistance of the Freedom Park staff.”
Freedom Park is located at the intersection of Longhill Road and Centerville Road. Turn into Freedom Park and drive a mile to the parking lot. From the Interpretive Center, where public restrooms are located, follow the paved walking path from the lot to the Garden’s main entrance. Bring a wagon to make shopping easier.
The proceeds from the plant sale fund many special projects in the community, including 4-H Nature Camp Scholarships, several school and community gardens like the Veteran’s Park Pollinator Garden, the Pruning Clinic, Landscape Love Program, Turf Love, the Help Desk, the Historic Triangle Learning Garden and much more. The JCCWMGA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
